Barra plana / chapa gruesa / chapa fina anchura x espesor

The densities this calculator applies are published constants Beiyu Titanium uses to estimate mass, not values a product standard guarantees: 4.43 g/cm3 for Grade 5 and Grade 23 Ti-6Al-4V, 4.48 g/cm3 for Grade 9 Ti-3Al-2.5V, and 4.51 g/cm3 for the commercially pure grades and for Grade 7 and Grade 12; 7.94 to 8.89 g/cm3 across the nickel alloy options, from Incoloy 800 at 7.94 to Nickel 200 and 201 and Hastelloy C276 at 8.89; 6.51 g/cm3 for Zirconium 702 and 6.64 g/cm3 for Zirconium 705; and 8.57 g/cm3 for niobium, 10.22 g/cm3 for molybdenum, 16.69 g/cm3 for tantalum and 19.25 g/cm3 for tungsten. The same constants drive the Beiyu Titanium quotation sheet, and the RMI Titanium Alloy Guide of January 2000 gives the same figure for every titanium grade listed here.

Neither ASTM B348 for bar and billet nor ASTM B265 for strip, sheet and plate publishes a density, so the constants above cannot be attributed to a product standard. What those standards do set is how far delivered weight may run over a calculated one. ASTM B348 states that the shipping weight of any item of an ordered size in any finish may exceed the theoretical weight by as much as 10 per cent. ASTM B265 sets its sheet allowance at up to 10 per cent over the estimated weight for an item of five sheets or fewer, or one estimated at 200 lb (91 kg) or less, and 7.5 per cent for an item of more than five sheets estimated above that weight, with no under tolerance on weight at all for sheet because short weight is controlled by the permissible thickness variations; the strip allowance is 10 per cent over estimated weight. Treat the output here as a nominal figure for sizing an order or checking a quotation, and reconcile it against the mill test certificate and the measured dimensions on delivery.
