ASTM B708 separates unalloyed tantalum by how the metal was made, with R05200 designating electron beam melted material and R05400 the sintered powder metallurgy product, a distinction the mill certificate states through the UNS number rather than the word tantalum. Density gives the second check: tantalum’s 16.7 grams per cubic centimeter is nearly twice niobium’s 8.6, which is how these two closely related metals are told apart on a scale when paperwork and markings disagree.
Beiyu’s mill documentation covers titanium and nickel, not tantalum, so Beiyu prices tantalum tube and plate strictly from the buyer’s drawing and the standard the order names rather than from a range it does not hold. The quality mechanics stay the ones Beiyu runs on its documented products: chemical composition verified through one of two laboratory routes, dimensional inspection against the ordered tolerance, third party inspection when the contract calls for one, and MTC with EN 10204 3.1 under heat number traceability by order scope, confirmed only after the six RFQ fields, grade, standard, dimensions, tolerance, surface condition and inspection scope, have been reviewed.
