Product Introduction
Product Parameters and RFQ Scope
| Item | RFQ Detail |
|---|---|
| Material | Titanium, zirconium, nickel alloy, molybdenum, tantalum or buyer-specified target material. |
| Purity | Specify the required purity level and impurity limits from the coating process or purchase specification. |
| Geometry | Round, rectangular, rotary or custom shape according to drawing. |
| Machining | OD, thickness, hole pattern, groove, chamfer, backing plate and tolerance should be defined by drawing. |
| Inspection | Dimensional report, surface inspection, material certificate, density or third-party inspection when required. |
Packaging and Documentation
Sputtering targets should be packed to protect machined surfaces, edges and identification labels. Depending on material and surface requirement, packing may include clean wrapping, vacuum packing, moisture protection, foam support and export cartons or wooden cases. Documents may include packing list, commercial invoice, material certificate and inspection report when requested.
FAQ
What information is needed for a sputtering target quotation?
Send material, purity, target dimensions, drawing, backing plate or bonding requirement, surface finish, quantity and inspection documents.
Can custom shapes be quoted?
Yes. Custom targets should be quoted from a drawing with dimensions, tolerances and installation details.
How should purity be specified?
Use the purity level and impurity limits required by the coating process or end customer specification. Avoid relying on a generic purity claim without acceptance criteria.
Application and Specification Review
Metal sputtering targets are used in PVD coating systems for thin-film production, decorative coating, optical coating, electronic components, solar-related coating and research equipment. The correct target specification depends on the coating system, target holder, power level, erosion track, bonding method and film purity requirement.
Beiyu quotes sputtering targets from the buyer's drawing and material specification. For titanium and titanium alloy targets, the RFQ should define grade, purity, dimensions, surface finish, backing plate or bonding requirement and inspection documents. For nickel, zirconium, molybdenum, tantalum or tungsten targets, include the required material designation and impurity limits instead of using only a generic material name.
Inspection and Acceptance
Typical acceptance items include dimensional inspection, surface check, material certificate, density requirement where applicable, backing-plate inspection and packing condition. If the target is for a semiconductor, optical or medical-related coating process, the buyer should provide impurity limits and acceptance criteria before quotation.
Procurement Checklist
- Target material, purity level and impurity limits.
- Target shape, OD, thickness, backing plate, bonding layer and tolerance drawing.
- Surface finish, cleaning requirement and packing requirement.
- Certificate, dimensional report, third-party inspection and quantity.
Additional Technical Notes
For repeat target orders, keep the previous drawing revision, target material, purity level and acceptance report together so the next RFQ uses the same baseline. If the target requires bonding to a backing plate, state bonding method, backing material, thermal cycling requirement and whether the buyer needs a separate bonding inspection record. For high-value or fragile targets, packing and handling instructions should be agreed before shipment.
Final RFQ Details
For export quotations, also confirm whether the target should be shipped as finished target only, target plus backing plate, or bonded assembly. If the buyer has previous inspection reports, include them with the new RFQ so purity, dimensions, surface finish and packing can be kept consistent across repeat orders.

Targets are made to the coating system rather than to a stock size. Beiyu Titanium sets the diameter or plate dimensions, the thickness and any bonding arrangement from the buyer's drawing and the equipment the target runs in, so no dimensional range is published for them here.
Two fields carry more weight on a target order than the outline does. The first is purity, stated as a purity level with the impurity limits that matter to the process and given alongside the material designation, because a generic material name on its own does not fix what the target deposits. The second is whether the target ships bonded to a backing plate, which sits on its own order line and changes both the part supplied and what the certificate covers. Beiyu Titanium supplies against EN 10204 3.1 with the reporting scope the order sets.
