Titanium Build Plate for Metal 3D Printing
Titanium build plates are used as machine-specific fixture plates for metal additive manufacturing systems. Build plate requirements vary by powder system, machine platform and resurfacing practice. Size, Machining and Drawing Requirements
RFQs should include plate thickness, width, length, flatness tolerance, datum surfaces, bolt-hole pattern, countersink, chamfer, edge condition and quantity. If the plate will be repeatedly resurfaced, state the minimum remaining thickness and resurfacing allowance. If the buyer needs a replacement plate for an existing machine, include the machine model and a photo or drawing of the original plate.
Material Selection Notes
Titanium build plates are normally reviewed when the printed alloy, contamination control and thermal cycling require a titanium-compatible plate. Aluminum or steel fixture plates may be appropriate for other machine systems, but titanium powder builds usually require a material choice confirmed by the process engineer. The correct grade depends on printed material, machine qualification rules and the buyer's internal acceptance criteria.
Inspection and Documentation
Inspection requirements may include dimensional report, flatness check, surface roughness check, PMI, material certificate, heat number traceability and EN10204 3.1 documentation. Build plates should be packed to protect machined faces, hole edges and identification markings. Build plates are cut to the machine, not to a catalogue, so Beiyu Titanium publishes no plate size for them. The plate diameter or footprint, the thickness and the flatness a printer needs are all set by the machine model and the buyer's drawing, which is why they are confirmed against the enquiry rather than listed here.
What the order does fix is the material side. The grade with its UNS designation is named on the order, and the plate is certified to EN 10204 3.1 covering the fields the order calls for. The enquiry needs the machine or platform the plate mounts to, the outline and thickness wanted, the flatness and surface requirement, any mounting features, and the inspection scope, since a plate that fits the printer mechanically can still be rejected on flatness.
