Grade 12 Titanium Plate for Corrosion-Resistant Fabrication

Beiyu supplies Grade 12 titanium plate for chemical equipment, heat exchangers, seawater service, pressure-related fabrication, electrochemical equipment and industrial corrosion-resistant components. Grade 12 is a titanium alloy containing nickel and molybdenum, often specified when the application requires stronger corrosion performance than commercially pure grades in selected environments.

Grade 12 plate should be quoted according to ASTM B265, ASME SB265 or the buyer's project specification. The RFQ should define thickness, plate size, surface condition, tolerance, inspection scope and whether cutting, machining or forming is required.

Grade and Standard

Material grade Grade 12 titanium, UNS R53400, commonly described as Ti-0.3Mo-0.8Ni.
Common standard ASTM B265 / ASME SB265 for titanium and titanium alloy strip, sheet and plate.
Condition Annealed plate or project-specified condition according to thickness and order requirement.
Surface condition Pickled, blasted, hot rolled, cold rolled or polished surface depending on thickness and use.

Thickness, Size and Fabrication Requirements

RFQs should specify thickness, width, length, tolerance, flatness, surface finish, edge condition and quantity. If the plate will be used for equipment fabrication, the drawing should show cut shapes, holes, bending, welding, machining allowance and any pressure-related requirements.

For thick plates or critical service, buyers should confirm ultrasonic testing, PMI testing, third-party inspection and certificate format before order confirmation. For welded equipment, the related welding plan and filler material requirement should also be considered.

Common Applications

  • Chemical processing equipment and corrosion-resistant vessels
  • Seawater, brine and desalination equipment
  • Heat exchanger plates, covers, baffles and tube sheets
  • Electrochemical and hydrometallurgy equipment
  • Custom cut or machined Grade 12 titanium plate components

Inspection and Documentation

Buyers can request mill test certificate, EN10204 3.1 documentation, heat number traceability, chemical composition, mechanical properties and dimensional inspection. Additional PMI testing, ultrasonic testing, flatness inspection or third-party inspection can be added when required by the project.

Packaging and Export Information

Grade 12 titanium plate should be protected from scratches, edge damage and mixed-material contamination. Plates may be packed with separation paper, protective film, pallets or wooden cases depending on size and surface condition. Labels should identify grade, standard, plate size, quantity and heat number when traceability is required.

RFQ Information Needed

  • Grade and standard: ASTM B265 Grade 12 or project specification
  • Thickness, width, length, tolerance and flatness requirement
  • Surface condition and edge condition
  • Cutting, machining, drilling or forming requirement
  • Quantity, destination and packing requirement
  • Certificate, NDT and third-party inspection requirements

FAQ

What is Grade 12 titanium plate?

Grade 12 is a titanium alloy with nickel and molybdenum additions. It is commonly considered for corrosion-resistant industrial applications where the project specification calls for Grade 12.

Which standard is used for Grade 12 titanium plate?

ASTM B265 / ASME SB265 is commonly used for titanium and titanium alloy sheet and plate, including Grade 12 when specified.

What should be included in a Grade 12 plate RFQ?

Send grade, standard, thickness, width, length, tolerance, surface condition, quantity, certificate requirements and any cutting or inspection requirements.

Procurement Notes for Grade 12 Titanium Plate

Grade 12 titanium plate RFQs should define ASTM B265, UNS R53400, thickness, width, length, quantity, surface condition and whether the order requires full plates, cut pieces or machined blanks. Buyers often select Grade 12 for chemical processing, heat exchangers, chloride service and industrial equipment where Ti-0.3Mo-0.8Ni corrosion performance is required.

Useful purchasing details include tolerance, flatness, edge trimming, machining allowance, protective film and inspection requirements. Documentation may include mill test certificates, chemical composition, mechanical properties, heat number traceability, EN10204 3.1, PMI or ultrasonic inspection when specified. Packing should protect plate surfaces and edges during export transit.

Specification detail with sources

ASTM B265-25 identifies Grade 12 as titanium alloyed with 0.2 to 0.4 percent molybdenum and 0.6 to 0.9 percent nickel. Those additions are used for improved crevice-corrosion resistance in hot chloride and brine service, but the grade selection still depends on the medium, temperature, crevices and design basis; Grade 12 is not a blanket substitute for a palladium-bearing or unalloyed grade.

Beiyu quotes Grade 12 plate in its 3 to 70 mm heavy rolling band, at widths to 2500 mm and lengths to 6000 mm. That production envelope is not a stock statement. Third-party inspection is arranged only when the purchase order names it, with the examination, acceptance standard, class, stage and any witness or hold points agreed before production begins.

These are the fields an order line needs. Minimum values shown are those of ASTM B265 in the annealed condition. Where the order calls for another condition, the figures come from that row of the standard instead.

The envelope above is the production capability. It does not mean every combination of grade, condition, surface, tolerance and inspection is available across the whole range, and it is not a stock statement. The ordered combination is confirmed at quotation.

Inspection and documentation

The inspection scope is set by the order rather than assumed. State which examinations are required, to which acceptance standard and class, and at which stage they are performed, because those four fields are what make an inspection line objectively verifiable during receiving inspection.
