Product Introduction
Grade 12 Titanium Tube (Ti-0.3Mo-0.8Ni)
Beiyu supplies Grade 12 titanium tube in Ti-0.3Mo-0.8Ni, a titanium alloy that offers improved strength and better corrosion resistance than commercially pure titanium in certain reducing and chloride environments. Grade 12 tube is selected for heat exchangers, condensers and chemical equipment where Grade 2 is close to its limit but the higher cost of palladium-bearing grades is not required.
Grade 12 tube should be quoted by OD, wall thickness, length, condition and standard, because corrosion behaviour and pressure rating depend on these parameters and the process medium.
Grade and Standards
| Material | Grade 12 titanium / Ti-0.3Mo-0.8Ni / UNS R53400 |
|---|---|
| Standard reference | ASTM B338, ASTM B861 (seamless) or ASTM B862 (welded), or customer specification |
| Condition | Annealed |
| Tube type | Seamless or welded titanium tube |
Size, Tolerance and Condition
RFQs should specify outside diameter, wall thickness, length, tolerance, straightness and surface condition. For heat exchanger tube, the buyer should state the process medium, temperature and any test requirement so the correct grade and wall thickness can be confirmed.
Common Applications
- Heat exchangers and condensers in mildly reducing media
- Chemical processing equipment
- Seawater and brine-related tube systems
- Corrosion-resistant tube assemblies
Inspection and Documentation
Buyers can request mill test certificate, EN10204 3.1 documentation, heat number traceability, chemical composition and mechanical properties. Hydrostatic testing, eddy current testing or dimensional inspection can be agreed when defined in the purchase specification.
Packaging and Export Information
Titanium tube is protected against bending, end damage and surface scratches, with end caps and rigid packing for straight lengths. Labels show grade, size, heat number and quantity where traceability is required.

FAQ
Why choose Grade 12 over Grade 2 titanium tube?
Grade 12 offers higher strength and better corrosion resistance than commercially pure Grade 2 in some reducing and chloride environments, while avoiding the higher cost of palladium-bearing grades.
Is Grade 12 tube seamless or welded?
Both seamless and welded titanium tube are available; the type and ASTM standard should be confirmed in the RFQ.
What is needed to quote Grade 12 titanium tube?
Send OD, wall thickness, length, condition, standard, process medium, quantity and certificate or test requirements.
Procurement Notes for Grade 12 Titanium Tube
Grade 12 titanium tube should be specified by UNS R53400, applicable ASTM standard, OD, wall thickness, length, tolerance and supply condition. Buyers commonly request Grade 12 for chemical processing, heat exchangers, chloride service and industrial equipment where Ti-0.3Mo-0.8Ni corrosion performance is needed. The RFQ should clarify whether seamless tube, welded tube or welded pipe is acceptable.
For heat-exchanger or process equipment orders, useful details include tube length tolerance, straightness, end cut, cleaning requirement, eddy current or hydrostatic test requirement, and whether the material will be expanded into tube sheets. Certificates should identify heat number, chemical composition, mechanical properties and standard compliance. Export packing should protect tube ends and prevent bending during transit.
Include tube cleaning method, packaging length limits and any receiving inspection criteria before confirming commercial terms.

Specification detail with sources
ASTM B338 Grade 12 (UNS R53400) is defined by its alloy window of 0.2 to 0.4 percent molybdenum and 0.6 to 0.9 percent nickel, additions that raise the minimum tensile strength to 483 MPa and minimum yield to 345 MPa, against 345 and 275 MPa for unalloyed Grade 2. Those two chemistry lines are what a buyer checks on the certificate when the tube is bought for hot brine or crevice corrosion duty, because a Grade 12 tube is dimensionally indistinguishable from Grade 2.
Beiyu Titanium supplies Grade 12 tube in both seamless and welded routes, and its release sequence runs chemical analysis at an external or in-house mill laboratory before dimensional and mechanical checks, so the molybdenum and nickel values that make R53400 what it is are reported on the EN 10204 3.1 certificate against the heat number. A Grade 12 enquiry should add the process medium and operating temperature, which lets Beiyu confirm the grade sits correctly between Grade 2 and the palladium-bearing grades for that service.
Specification for Grade 12 Ti-0.3Mo-0.8Ni tube
These are the fields an order line needs. The mechanical requirement that applies is the one in ASTM B338 for the ordered form, size range and condition, so it is confirmed against the ordered standard at quotation rather than carried across from another product standard.
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Grade | Grade 12 Ti-0.3Mo-0.8Ni |
| UNS designation | R53400 under ASTM B338 |
| Werkstoff number | 3.7105 |
| Controlling standard | ASTM B338 |
| Selected composition limits, mass percent | Ti-0.3Mo-0.8Ni (Mo 0.2 to 0.4, Ni 0.6 to 0.9). Full chemistry is per the governing specification. |
| Supply condition | R / M / Y, stated on the order |
Dimensions
State outside diameter, wall thickness and length, and say whether the item is ordered as tube or as pipe, because that is what fixes the governing standard and with it the acceptance requirements.
Inspection and documentation
The inspection scope is set by the order rather than assumed. State which examinations are required, to which acceptance standard and class, and at which stage they are performed, because those four fields are what make an inspection line objectively verifiable during receiving inspection.
Acceptance criteria you can paste into your purchase order
