Product Introduction
Titanium Welded Pipe for Corrosion-Resistant Piping Systems
Beiyu supplies titanium welded pipe for chemical processing, seawater systems, brine service, condensers, industrial piping and titanium equipment assemblies. Welded titanium pipe is commonly selected for corrosion-resistant systems where size range, wall thickness and project specification allow welded construction.
Grade 2 is commonly used for general corrosion-resistant service. Grade 7 and Grade 12 may be considered for more demanding chemical or crevice corrosion conditions. Material selection should be confirmed according to medium, temperature, pressure and welding requirements.
Grades and Standard
| Common grades | Grade 2, Grade 7, Grade 12 and project-specified titanium grades. |
|---|---|
| Common standard | ASTM B862 for welded titanium and titanium alloy pipe. |
| Related standard | ASTM B861 may apply when the project requires seamless titanium pipe. |
| Supply condition | Welded, annealed, pickled, mechanically finished or project-specified condition. |
Size, Wall Thickness and Weld Requirements
RFQs should specify grade, standard, nominal pipe size or OD, wall thickness, length, tolerance, end condition, surface finish and quantity. If the pipe will be welded into a system, buyers should also specify weld preparation, cleanliness requirements and related fitting or flange standards.
For chemical and seawater service, inspection requirements should be stated clearly, including whether hydrostatic testing, NDT, PMI or third-party inspection is required.
Common Applications
- Chemical process piping and corrosion-resistant fluid lines
- Seawater, brine and desalination systems
- Condensers, heat exchangers and industrial cooling equipment
- Electrochemical and hydrometallurgy equipment
- Titanium equipment assemblies and pipe spools
Inspection and Documentation
Buyers can request mill test certificate, EN10204 3.1 documentation, heat number traceability, chemical composition, mechanical properties and dimensional inspection. Depending on project requirements, hydrostatic testing, eddy current testing, ultrasonic testing, radiographic testing, PMI testing or third-party inspection can be specified.
Packaging and Export Information
Titanium welded pipe should be protected from end damage, scratches and mixed-material contamination. Packing may include end caps, bundled pipes, protective wrapping, wooden cases or pallets depending on size and shipment method. Labels should identify grade, standard, size, wall thickness, length, quantity and heat number when traceability is required.
RFQ Information Needed
- Grade and standard: for example ASTM B862 Grade 2
- OD or NPS, wall thickness, length and tolerance
- End condition and surface condition
- Quantity, destination and packing requirement
- Testing, certificate and third-party inspection requirements
- Application medium, temperature and pressure if grade review is needed
FAQ
Which standard is used for titanium welded pipe?
ASTM B862 is commonly used for welded titanium and titanium alloy pipe. If seamless pipe is required, ASTM B861 may be the relevant standard.
When should Grade 7 or Grade 12 be considered?
Grade 7 or Grade 12 may be considered when the chemical environment or crevice corrosion risk is more demanding than general Grade 2 service. Final selection should follow the project specification.
What testing can be requested for titanium welded pipe?
Common requests include dimensional inspection, hydrostatic testing, NDT, PMI, material certificate and EN10204 3.1 documentation. The RFQ should define the required test scope.
RFQ Details for Titanium Welded Pipe
For titanium welded pipe, the RFQ should define ASTM B862 or project standard, grade, outside diameter, wall thickness, length, weld condition, surface finish and inspection requirement. If the pipe will be used in pressure equipment, heat exchangers or chemical transfer lines, include the design medium, required hydrostatic test, weld inspection requirement, end preparation and whether mill test certificates must show full heat traceability.

Specification detail with sources
ASTM B862 is the current specification for welded titanium pipe; together with seamless B861 it replaced the earlier single titanium pipe specification that ASTM withdrew in 2010, so enquiry documents still carrying the withdrawn number should be requoted to B862 before any mill order. B862 pipe is formed from flat-rolled titanium meeting the chemistry of ASTM B265, which means a welded pipe certificate traces back to strip chemistry plus the weld seam, not to a single extruded hollow, and the weld inspection scope becomes part of acceptance.
Beiyu Titanium supplies welded titanium pipe from 6.35 to 1219 mm outside diameter with walls from 0.5 to 25.4 mm and lengths to 22,000 mm, the largest of the three tube envelopes Beiyu quotes. A large-bore enquiry should state whether outside diameter or nominal pipe size controls, the wall or schedule, the weld inspection requirement and the end preparation, because those four answers set the production route before any price is meaningful.
