Titanium pump parts are ordered as forgings and plate, and those are the ranges Beiyu Titanium publishes rather than a pump curve. Impellers and shafts draw on forged round bar at Ø50 mm to 500 mm and the forged disc row at outside diameter 50 mm to 2000 mm and thickness 20 mm to 500 mm; casings and backplates draw on plate at 3 mm to 70 mm thick in widths to 2500 mm and lengths to 6000 mm. The forging route is quoted against ASTM B381 and its ASME adoption SB381.
A pump is selected on hydraulics before it is selected on metal, and the two sets of fields do not overlap. The hydraulic side needs flow, head, speed, NPSH available and the fluid with its temperature, density and solids content. The material side needs the alloy fixed by its UNS number, the part list with the forging or plate row each part comes from, and the machining allowance on the rough parts. An enquiry that carries only the duty point cannot be costed in titanium, because the metal content is decided by the part sizes rather than by the flow.
