Acceptance is by the ordered specification. Values are RFQ references only. Final grade, chemistry, dimensions, inspection and documentation are confirmed by the purchase specification and mill test certificate.
Niobium (columbium, Nb) bar and sheet is ductile, corrosion-resistant and superconducting at low temperature. It is widely used for superconductor stock, chemical hardware and electronics, and complements our niobium pipe and tube.

Is niobium superconducting?
Yes. niobium and its alloys (Nb-Ti, Nb₃Sn) are the basis of most practical superconducting magnets and RF cavities.
Do you supply both bar and sheet?
Yes. Nb1 and Nb1Zr are available as bar/rod (ASTM B392) and sheet/plate (B393); specify size and condition.
Forms and sizes
Niobium bar and rod is supplied from 3 mm to about 100 mm diameter, and sheet and plate from 0.03 mm to 10 mm thick, in widths of 30 mm to 1000 mm and lengths of 50 mm to 2000 mm, in the annealed condition with a bright or pickled surface. Custom dimensions and drawing-based shapes are quoted on request.
Inspection and documentation
Inspection documents, including a mill test certificate and EN 10204 3.1 when required, are confirmed in the quotation and purchase order. Requested chemistry, mechanical, dimensional and heat-number traceability scope should be stated in the RFQ.

Unalloyed or alloyed, and in which temper
Niobium is supplied both unalloyed and with a zirconium addition, and the two are ordered for different reasons: the unalloyed metal for corrosion and electrical work, the alloyed grade where strength at temperature matters. Both come as bar and as sheet, so the form does not imply the grade and the grade has to be named with its designation rather than as the element.
On bar the second field is the delivered state, since straightness and the machined surface are set there rather than by the grade. On sheet the second field is the condition, because annealed and cold worked material of the same grade form differently and a part drawn from the wrong one fails at the press rather than in service. Thickness needs its tolerance, and the surface state belongs on a separate line from the condition. An enquiry that names the grade with its designation, the governing specification, the form with dimensions and tolerance, the delivery condition, the surface state and the inspection scope can be priced on the first pass rather than after a clarification round.

The Beiyu Titanium supply ranges publish niobium round bar at Ø3 mm to 100 mm in lengths to 6000 mm, and niobium sheet and plate from 0.03 mm to 10 mm thick in widths of 30 mm to 1000 mm and lengths of 50 mm to 2000 mm. Those width and length limits are worth reading as printed rather than rounded, since the Beiyu Titanium supply ranges set 1000 mm as the width ceiling for niobium sheet and plate and 2000 mm as the length ceiling.
ASTM B392, B393 and B394 are the three standards named for niobium, and they are named for the metal rather than for bar or for sheet separately, so this page lists them without assigning one to either form. The grades are the UNS designations R04200 and R04210, both written with the digit zero, since a UNS designation is the letter R followed by five digits.
