Product Introduction
Grade 5 Titanium Foil and Thin Sheet (Ti-6Al-4V)
Beiyu supplies Grade 5 titanium foil and thin sheet in Ti-6Al-4V for applications that need a high-strength titanium alloy in thin gauge. Grade 5 foil and thin sheet are used where the design requires the strength of Ti-6Al-4V combined with low thickness for forming, lamination, shielding or precision assembly.
Thin-gauge alloy material should be quoted by exact thickness, width, length or coil form, temper and tolerance, because forming response and flatness depend on these parameters.
Grade and Standards
| Material | Grade 5 titanium / Ti-6Al-4V / UNS R56400 |
|---|---|
| Standard reference | ASTM B265 / ASME SB265 for titanium sheet, strip and plate, or customer specification |
| Condition | Annealed; cold rolled thin gauge as required by thickness |
| Forms | Foil, thin sheet, strip, coil or cut-to-size blanks |
Thickness, Width and Surface Condition
RFQs should specify thickness, width, length or coil ID, tolerance, flatness, edge condition and surface finish. For very thin material, the buyer should confirm whether foil, strip or cut sheet is required, and whether the part will be formed, stamped, etched or welded.
Common Applications
Thin sheet / foil
Inspection and Documentation
Buyers can request mill test certificate, EN10204 3.1 documentation, heat number traceability, chemical composition, mechanical properties and dimensional inspection. Hardness, flatness or surface inspection can be added when defined in the purchase specification.
Packaging and Export Information
Titanium foil and thin sheet are protected with interleaving, film or rigid packing to prevent scratches, creasing and edge damage. Labels show grade, thickness, size, heat number and quantity where traceability is required.

FAQ
What thickness range counts as titanium foil?
Foil generally refers to very thin gauge material below about 0.5 mm; thicker material is supplied as thin sheet or strip. The exact thickness should be confirmed in the RFQ.
Which standard applies to Grade 5 titanium thin sheet?
ASTM B265 is commonly referenced for titanium sheet, strip and plate. Thin or precision material may also be controlled by a customer drawing or specification.
Can Grade 5 foil be supplied cut to size?
Cut blanks can be reviewed when the RFQ includes dimensions, tolerance, edge condition and quantity.
Procurement Notes for Grade 5 Titanium Foil and Thin Sheet
Grade 5 titanium foil and thin sheet should be specified by Ti-6Al-4V grade, thickness, width, length or coil size, surface condition and applicable ASTM B265 or customer specification. Buyers should state whether the material will be stamped, formed, laser cut, etched, welded or used as a thin machined blank because tolerance and flatness requirements may change.
Useful RFQ fields include thickness tolerance, edge condition, coil ID, burr allowance, protective film, certificate requirement and whether small trial quantity or production quantity is needed. Thin Grade 5 material should be packed to avoid creasing, edge dents and surface scratches during export transit.

Specification detail with sources
ASTM B265 covers titanium alloy strip, sheet and plate, and identifies Grade 5 Ti-6Al-4V as UNS R56400 for that mill-product route. Its chemistry includes aluminum 5.5 to 6.75 percent and vanadium 3.5 to 4.5 percent; the mechanical requirement still comes from the ordered form, size range and condition rather than being carried across from another product standard.
Beiyu's Grade 5 foil production envelope is 0.02 to 0.3 mm thick at widths to 600 mm, but that range is a quotation capability, not a stock statement or a promise that every alloy-condition-size combination is available. State thickness, width, length or coil geometry, tolerance, surface and edge requirements in the foil or thin-sheet RFQ, and define the required inspection and certificate scope before production.
Specification for Grade 5 Ti-6Al-4V foil
These are the fields an order line needs. The mechanical requirement that applies is the one in ASTM B265 for the ordered form, size range and condition, so it is confirmed against the ordered standard at quotation rather than carried across from another product standard.
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Grade | Grade 5 Ti-6Al-4V |
| UNS designation | R56400 under ASTM B265 |
| Werkstoff number | 3.7165 |
| Controlling standard | ASTM B265 |
| Selected composition limits, mass percent | Ti-6Al-4V (Al 5.5 to 6.75, V 3.5 to 4.5). Full chemistry is per the governing specification. |
| Supply condition | R / M / Y, stated on the order |
Supply envelope
| Form | Range |
|---|---|
| Foil | 0.02 mm to 0.3 mm thick, width to 600 mm |
The envelope above is the production capability. It does not mean every combination of grade, condition, surface, tolerance and inspection is available across the whole range, and it is not a stock statement. The ordered combination is confirmed at quotation.
Inspection and documentation
The inspection scope is set by the order rather than assumed. State which examinations are required, to which acceptance standard and class, and at which stage they are performed, because those four fields are what make an inspection line objectively verifiable during receiving inspection.
Acceptance criteria you can paste into your purchase order
Grade and standard: Grade 5 Ti-6Al-4V, ASTM B265, UNS R56400 Form and dimensions: ______ Tolerance: ______ Condition: ______ (R / M / Y, stated on the order) Surface: ______ (state a roughness value where it is an acceptance criterion) Flatness: ______ Inspection scope: ______ (examination, acceptance standard, class and stage) Certificate: EN 10204 3.1 inspection certificate, chemistry traceable to heat number, mechanical results and inspection lot identification per the governing specification
