Applications

If an enquiry says only “20 mm Grade 23 titanium square bar for a medical device,” I would not quote it yet. I would ask for the drawing. There is a simple reason. Square stock can be a sensible starting shape for a block-like part, but the word square tells me nothing about implant suitability. […]

When Grade 2 titanium starts to crevice-corrode in hot chloride brine, Grade 12 (Ti-0.3Mo-0.8Ni, R53400) extends the limit at a fraction of Grade 7’s cost.

Industrial titanium plate and tube in Grade 2, 5 and 7: metric RFQ fields, seawater/chemical selection, UNS/ASTM references and EN 10204 3.1 MTCs.

Platinum-coated titanium electrodes, titanium tube and plate in Grade 2/5/7 for electrochemical, chemical and seawater service, with EN 10204 3.1 MTCs.

Grade 7 titanium (UNS R52400) for hydrochloric and sulfuric acid service: palladium effect, ASTM forms, limits and RFQ fields.

Titanium for medical implants: CP Grades 1-4 to ASTM F67, Ti-6Al-4V ELI Grade 23 to F136, plus F1472 and ISO 5832 standards, forms and RFQ specs.

How titanium resists seawater corrosion: passive film, velocity and crevice limits, and which grade (2, 7, 12) and form to order for marine service.

Grade 2 titanium for chemical processing: corrosion behavior, temperature limits, heat-exchanger tube and plate forms, and RFQ details.

In chemical processing, the grade is decided by whether the medium is oxidizing or reducing. Grade 2 (UNS R50400) handles oxidizing acids, wet chlorine, chlorides and most organic acids very well. For reducing acids such as hydrochloric and dilute sulfuric, especially hot, move to Grade 7 (UNS R52400), whose palladium keeps titanium passive where Grade

For most ambient seawater service, Grade 2 (UNS R50400) commercially pure titanium is the default, because titanium forms a stable passive oxide film that does not corrode in chloride water. When the service runs hot (roughly above 70 to 80 C), involves tight crevices, or carries concentrated brine, move up to Grade 7 (UNS R52400)
