Product Introduction
Grade 7 Titanium Strip for Corrosion-Resistant Components
Grade 7 titanium strip is a palladium-containing titanium grade used when the buyer's specification requires improved corrosion resistance compared with standard commercially pure titanium. It is commonly associated with UNS R52400 and may be ordered as coil strip, cut strip or narrow-width titanium material for formed parts and equipment components.
Beiyu quotes Grade 7 titanium strip according to the required thickness, width, tolerance, surface condition and document package. The application should be stated clearly because strip used for forming, welding, anode assemblies or chemical equipment may require different surface and edge conditions.
Grade and Standards
- Material: Grade 7 titanium / UNS R52400.
- Possible standard reference: ASTM B265 for titanium sheet, strip and plate when specified.
- Forms: coil strip, slit strip, cut strip or drawing-based narrow titanium material.
- Surface condition: pickled, cold rolled, polished or project-specified condition.
Size and Tolerance
RFQs should include strip thickness, width, coil weight or cut length, tolerance, edge condition, surface finish and quantity. If the strip will be stamped, bent, welded or used in an electrochemical assembly, provide the drawing and critical dimensions before quotation.
Applications
Grade 7 titanium strip may be used in chemical equipment, corrosion-resistant formed parts, anode and cathode assemblies, gaskets, separators, springs, clips, liners and custom industrial components. Final suitability should be confirmed by the buyer's design or corrosion engineer.
Inspection and Documents
Common document requests include mill test certificate, heat number traceability, chemical composition, mechanical properties, dimensional inspection and EN10204 3.1 certificate when required. Surface inspection and edge inspection should be specified if strip quality is critical for forming or assembly.
Packing and RFQ Checklist
Coil strip should be packed to prevent edge damage, surface scratches and coil deformation. Cut strip should be separated and labelled by grade, size and heat number. Send grade, standard, thickness, width, length or coil weight, tolerance, edge condition, surface condition, quantity and document requirements.
FAQ
What is Grade 7 titanium strip?
It is a palladium-containing titanium strip material, commonly UNS R52400, selected for specific corrosion-resistant applications.
Can Grade 7 strip be supplied as coil?
Coil strip can be reviewed when the RFQ includes thickness, width, coil weight, tolerance and surface condition.
What standard is used for titanium strip?
ASTM B265 may be referenced when the buyer specifies it for titanium sheet, strip and plate.
Procurement Notes for Titanium Strip
Titanium strip purchasing is sensitive to width tolerance, edge condition and coil handling. If the strip will be slit, stamped or continuously fed into equipment, the buyer should state burr limits, camber tolerance, coil ID, coil OD and whether welded joints in the coil are acceptable. These details affect both production route and packing.
For small cut strips, provide the final part drawing and required quantity per size. If heat-number traceability is required, confirm whether each bundle or packet needs an individual label and certificate reference.
RFQ checklist: Grade 7 / UNS R52400, ASTM standard if required, thickness, width, coil or cut length, edge condition, surface finish, tolerance, quantity, MTC requirement and packing method.
RFQ Details for Grade 7 Strip
For titanium Grade 7 strip quotations, buyers usually provide thickness, coil width, required coil ID or sheet length, edge condition, surface finish, and whether ASTM B265 chemistry and mechanical values must be shown on the mill test certificate. If the strip will be welded, stamped, or formed into chemical process parts, the RFQ should also mention the bend radius, drawing requirement, and any special flatness or burr control requirement.

Why Grade 7 in strip form is bought for one reason, and ordered on another
Grade 7 exists because a small palladium addition changes behaviour in reducing acid service. That is the reason it is specified. What it costs to get it wrong on an order is dimensional, because a strip that cannot be formed to the part is useless whatever its corrosion behaviour.
| The reason for the grade | The reason an order stalls |
|---|---|
| Palladium band named by the specification | Thickness quoted without its tolerance |
| Behaviour in reducing acid conditions | Width quoted without the edge condition |
| Crevice corrosion resistance | Delivery condition collapsed into surface finish |
The palladium figure and how it is obtained
Since the alloying element is the commercial reason for the order, the figure that proves it carries a named basis in the specification rather than a house method.
| What is reported | Method the specification references |
|---|---|
| Alloy composition, including palladium | ASTM E539 and ASTM E2371 |
| Oxygen and nitrogen | ASTM E1409 |
| Rounding of reported values | ASTM E29 |
Naming a method settles how a value was produced. It does not add an examination the order did not request. A Grade 7 strip enquiry that names the specification alongside the grade is quoted against the correct band on the first pass, rather than against a commercial shorthand the specification does not contain.

Specification detail with sources
ASTM B265 covers titanium alloy strip and identifies Grade 7 as UNS R52400, with palladium limited to 0.12 to 0.25 percent. The palladium-bearing chemistry supports the Grade 7 corrosion-service route, but it does not authorize automatic substitution for another grade; medium, temperature, crevices, fabrication and the governing design basis still control selection.
A Grade 7 strip order needs thickness, width and length or coil geometry together with the applicable tolerances, surface, edge or burr limit, condition and packing. Use the flat-product RFQ fields rather than assuming dimensions from the grade name, and state each required examination, acceptance standard, class, stage and certificate field before quotation.
Specification for Grade 7 Ti-0.15Pd strip
These are the fields an order line needs. The mechanical requirement that applies is the one in ASTM B265 for the ordered form, size range and condition, so it is confirmed against the ordered standard at quotation rather than carried across from another product standard.
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Grade | Grade 7 Ti-0.15Pd |
| UNS designation | R52400 under ASTM B265 |
| Werkstoff number | 3.7235 |
| Controlling standard | ASTM B265 |
| Selected composition limits, mass percent | Grade 2 chemistry plus Pd 0.12 to 0.25. Full chemistry is per the governing specification. |
| Supply condition | R / M / Y, stated on the order |
Dimensions
State thickness, width and length with the tolerance that applies, taken from the drawing or the purchase specification.
Inspection and documentation
The inspection scope is set by the order rather than assumed. State which examinations are required, to which acceptance standard and class, and at which stage they are performed, because those four fields are what make an inspection line objectively verifiable during receiving inspection.
Acceptance criteria you can paste into your purchase order
Grade and standard: Grade 7 Ti-0.15Pd, ASTM B265, UNS R52400 Form and dimensions: ______ Tolerance: ______ Condition: ______ (R / M / Y, stated on the order) Surface: ______ (state a roughness value where it is an acceptance criterion) Form tolerance: ______ Inspection scope: ______ (examination, acceptance standard, class and stage) Certificate: EN 10204 3.1 inspection certificate, chemistry traceable to heat number, mechanical results and inspection lot identification per the governing specification
Send the drawing or purchase specification with those fields filled in and the enquiry is reviewed against the applicable standard before pricing.
